OMG! Can we say sleep deprived!?!

I'm soooo tired! My youngest daughter who's 4 yrs old now has had an ongoing medical condition basically since birth, but it was magnified at 1 yr old, she's lactose intolerant (I am too). I know, it doesn't sound that bad, but to see a child go through stomach cramps, fevers, projectile vomiting and diarrhea for a week for drinking an ounce of milk is horrendous! Since then, she's developed other issues, for example, anything that has a skin on it needs to be peeled, such as apples, grapes, pinto beans, etc., she can't eat red meat more than a couple of times a week, and just this week we found out the hard way that she can't digest cashews. I don't know what's going on! I've taken her to a pediatric allergist, but he insists that she's not allergic to anything and it's not IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), so what gives? Don't get me wrong, there's plenty she can eat, however the lack of calcium from the lack of milk worries me. She gets calcium from other foods and supplements, but as a mother you still worry. Until then, I'm awake most of the night listening to her cry, sitting with her in the tub to bring her fevers down every few hours and monitoring everything single thing that goes in her mouth (and comes out).

To top it all off, she starts school soon! I can't hold her hand everyday and sit with her through lunchtime. I can leave instructions on what she can't eat, but there are 19 other children in class to watch over too. I think for now, I'll just have to start her off taking lunch to school, until she's old enough to know what not to eat.

I love my child and I know this post sounds like venting frustrations about my child being sick, it is, but more than anything it's worried frustrations. I pray religiously to be able to take her place, to take her pain and to know what this is so I can help her get better. I've even taken classes to learn and practice Reiki on her to help her get over each episode faster. If anyone has ever had a sick child, you know what helplessness feels like (and sleep deprivation).

As with most of my posts, I am and will be open to any suggestions. I've researched and continue to do so regarding her health and I've taken her to plenty of doctors, but if anyone has a similar issue and has found some help, I'd love to hear from you.

First Timer

I know, I know, it sounds worse than what it really is! Being a first time blogger is a strange but exhilarating feeling, but I have the funny feeling that I really don't know what I'm getting myself into. I love to read blogs and although I'm not crazy about reality TV, I love 'The Real Housewives" series and blogs. I've been promising myself since my first daughter was born (7 yrs ago) that I would start a journal and still haven't. So, this is my attempt at starting one. 'Better late than never!' I know it's such a cliche sentiment, but it's so true!
A bit about myself ... this summer I'll be celebrating 13 years of marriage, I have two beautiful daughters 7 and 4 years old, and I'm a full-time student working towards my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in the health care field. On top of trying to juggle being a wife, lover, mother and student, I'm the resident family mediator of any and all family drama.

I'd love to hear from anyone that has been a blogger for a while or even someone new that is willing to share some insider info and/or tips to a successful blog.
